PHUA CHIN ENG
Phua Chin Eng, the founder, principal and driving force behind Landart, holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture (1996) and a Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning (1992) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He has been listed as a corporate member of the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia (ILAM) since the year 2000.
Before settling down in Penang to embark on the developmental journey of establishing Landart in 1998, Phua had spent the earlier stages of his career practising landscape architecture in Singapore. With decades of experience practising in the industry, Phua taps into his expertise and knowledge to guide and lead the team while supplying indispensable conceptual ideas during both the planning and designing stages.
Phua has been a guest speaker during various webinars and workshops where he shared his industry experience, while he was one of the judges for the Malaysian Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) competitions.
In consecutive years of 1993, 1994 and 1995, he was awarded the title of Best Designer for Architecture Awards from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. While in 1995, he was awarded the First Prize in the International Students Design Competition for the Eco-Tourism Project in New Zealand, Grand Prize in the logo competition conducted by the Institute of Landscape Architects Malaysia and, Citation Awards in the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) International Students’ Competition in Bangkok, Thailand.
Together with Landart team members leading by Phua, more recent awards include the Award of Excellence in Analysis and Master Planning at the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) AAPME Awards, Excellence Award in the Landscape Design under the professional category and, Excellence Award in the Landscape Master Plan at the Malaysian Landscape Architecture Awards (MLAA) competitions.
